Why this happens
Controls fail more often than motors. Testing each control separately (remote, wall switch, key switch) usually narrows the problem down quickly.
| Likely cause | Tell-tale signs |
|---|---|
| Flat remote battery | Remote light dim or off; wall switch works |
| Remote lost pairing | New battery but still nothing; other remotes work |
| Faulty receiver | No remote works; wall switch works |
| Faulty wall or key switch | Remote works; switch doesn't |
| Control box or wiring fault | Nothing works; motor fine when tested directly |
Safe checks you can do first
- Replace the remote battery.
- Try every control: each remote, the wall switch and the key switch.
- Check the breaker and isolator.
- Note which controls work and which don't, then send us that list.
What not to do
- Don't open control boxes or switches. They may carry mains power.
- Don't buy 'universal' remotes before checking compatibility.
💡 Fastest way to a fix: WhatsApp us a short video of the shutter (from a safe distance), a photo of the motor or lock area if visible, and your location. We'll usually be able to tell you the likely cause and a price range straight away.
How we fix it
We test each control, repair or replace switches and receivers, repair the control box, and program new or replacement remotes to your shutter.
How much will it cost?
Remote, switch and control box repairs start from $150. New remotes and programming are quoted by model.
Note on pricing: these are starting prices. The final cost depends on the complexity of the fault, shutter size and type, parts needed and site access. A site visit is needed for an accurate quote, and the site visit is free. See the full price list.
