Why this happens
Shutters come off track when the curtain is pushed out of the guide rails. That usually happens through an impact, a bent guide, or slats whose end locks have worn or broken so they drift sideways.
| Likely cause | Tell-tale signs |
|---|---|
| Vehicle, trolley or forklift impact | Visible dent or bend in the curtain or guide |
| Bent or loose guide rail | Guide visibly out of line or moving |
| Broken slat end locks | Slats shifting sideways over time |
| Strong wind on an unlocked curtain | Curtain bowed outwards |
| Shutter forced when jammed | Derailment after someone pushed or pulled it |
Safe checks you can do first
- Stop using the shutter immediately.
- Keep people clear, especially if it's partly open.
- Take photos of both guides and the damaged area.
What not to do
- Don't try to push slats back into the guide with tools.
- Don't operate the motor. It can tear slats or bend the shaft.
- Don't stand under a derailed curtain.
How we fix it
We safely release the curtain, straighten or replace bent guides and damaged slats, replace broken end locks, and re-track and test the shutter. For impact damage, we'll tell you honestly whether repair or partial replacement is better value.
How much will it cost?
Re-tracking and minor slat or guide repairs start from $180. Extensive curtain damage is quoted after the free site visit.
